Nobody knows this little Rose

Nobody knows this little Rose
It might a pilgrim be
Did I not take it from the ways
And lift it up to thee.
Only a Bee will miss it
Only a Butterfly,
Hastening from far journey
On its breast to lie
Only a Bird will wonder-
Only a Breeze will sigh-
Ah Little Rose-how easy
For such as thee to die!
Emily Dickinson
Rosette
Nobody knows this little Rose
It might be a pilgrim
I did not take it from the ways
And lift it up to you.
Only a Bee will miss it
Only a Butterfly,
Hastening from far journey
May lie on its breast
Only a Bird will wonder-
Only a Breeze will fan-
Ah Little Rose-how easy
For such as you to die!
“Little Rose” is a hint. Rosette does not attract creatures. It is decorative device to honor military or civil servants.
